Ovulation Induction

Ovulation Induction

Medical assistance to stimulate ovulation, enhancing chances of conception for women with irregular cycles.

Ovulation induction is a fertility treatment used to stimulate the ovaries to produce eggs in women who have irregular ovulation or are not ovulating at all. It is commonly recommended for women with conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), hormonal imbalances, or unexplained infertility. The goal of ovulation induction is to regulate the menstrual cycle and increase the chances of pregnancy by encouraging the ovaries to release eggs at the right time.

The treatment typically involves medications such as Clomiphene citrate (Clomid), letrozole, or injectable gonadotropins. These medications work by either stimulating the brain to release hormones that prompt the ovaries to produce eggs or directly stimulating the ovaries. Monitoring through blood tests and ultrasounds is usually required to track the response to medication and ensure that ovulation is occurring. Ovulation induction is often combined with other fertility treatments, like intrauterine insemination (IUI), to further enhance the chances of conception.
